Bubba Wallace says, “I need to be replaced.” – Racing News

NASCAR driver for 23XI Racing hard on himself after crashing into Kyle Larson at COTA

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series drivers unloaded in Austin, Texas. They’re currently underway in the race on the 20-turn Circuit of the Americas road course.

Watch the Bubba Wallace crash video below.

On lap 11 of the 68 lap race, Bubba Wallace suffered a crash. He went to the brakes and slid right through the corner.

Wallace ran right into the side of Kyle Larson and Erik Jones. Larson was sent spinning following the incident.

It appeared that Wallace suffered brake failure. However, it appears that earlier contact caused a broken toe link.

The broken toe link caused bigger problems on lap 11. The suspension moving around was enough to brake an oil line. When Wallace jumped on the brakes, he slid through his own oil.

The race is ongoing. Yet, the No. 23 is done for the day. The No. 23 car is fielded by the Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan owned 23XI Racing.

After climbing from the car, Wallace was hard on himself…

“Broke a toe link in the rear and then an oil line,” Bubba Wallace told FOX after exiting the infield care center.

“I’m trying my hardest not to go down the slippery slope of self-doubt here. Two weeks in a row, making rookie mistakes, six years into Cup.”

“I need to be replaced,” Wallace added.

“He’s always so hard on himself,” Kurt Busch, of 23XI Racing stated.

“He wants the best, he wants to continue to improve on the road courses. Short tracks, where he knows he’s good then the mile-and-a-halfs are his cup of tea.”

“But, you’re alright. There’s mistakes that happen, you just don’t want to make the same one, twice.”
